For many companies, doing business in China will simply mean finding the correct distribution partners, or selling online through cross-border channels. For others, selling in China will require physically being there, which brings up a host of practical issues.

What are the various legal entities in China that businesses can choose from when entering the market to have a physical presence on the ground? How long will it take to incorporate, what are the steps involved and an estimate of likely costs? In addition to these questions, foreign firms will have to understand the local market regulations which will include detailed knowledge of how to pay taxes, hiring and firing employees, managing local staff and how to repatriate profits.

While it all seems very complex, CBBC together with a host of service firms can help guide and advise your business on the correct way to plan for these issues. In this session, we will cover such topics as:

  • Government regulation
  • Paying taxes and repatriating profit
  • The various types of Chinese entities including:
  1. A representative office
  2. Joint venture
  3. Wholly foreign-owned enterprise (WFOE)
  • How to setup a Chinese entity?
  • Other practical considerations such as legal and HR issues
  • Support & resources available
