The YRD Integration was upgraded to a national strategy in November 2018 during the first China International Import Expo, with the State Council releasing a circular on 29th October 2019 which approved the overall plan to build a demonstration zone for integrated ecological and green development in the YRD region. On 2nd December 2019, The YRD Integration Development Plan was released by the central government. The plan detailed development goals set to be achieved by 2025 and offered an insight into how the YRD will develop by 2035.
The delta region encompasses Shanghai and the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui: covering around 358,000 square kilometers and generating approximately one quarter of the country's GDP. The cluster of cities in the YRD region offer huge potential to UK companies, particularly in regards to opportunities in the financial services, consumer, engineering consulting, urban planning, and environmental protection sectors.
To help CBBC members better understand the priorities of the YRD integration policy and the opportunities, CBBC will be running a webinar briefing and invite officials from Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce and Shanghai Reform and Development Committee to interpret the policies.
