China Chat February 2023 – The new playbook rules for consumer brands in China

CBBC is ringing in the new year of the Rabbit with our next China Chat on 7th February 2023 in a central London. In Chinese culture, the rabbit represents agility, kindness, and peace, but also spring, dawn, and prosperity. With China recently abandoning the zero-COVID policy, will we see a new consumer dawn rising and a reviving spring on the way? Will 2023 be a year of rebirth for the China consumer market weakened until recent by lockdowns and economic headwinds? How soon could Chinese tourists come back to the UK and give UK consumer market a boost? What will ‘luxury’ mean in 2023?

Held during the Chinese New Year holiday period, this China Chat will showcase the successful stories of luxury brands launching Chinese New Year campaigns and their interactions with Chinese consumers. In the coming year, there will be new trends to define luxury shopping by Chinese consumers and we will be hearing from our guest speaker Chloé Reuter, the founding partner of Gusto Collective. We will also be welcoming Jon Graham, CEO of Miller Harris, as he shares his insights on how to approach, attract and engage Chinese customers.

A winning feature for local luxury brands in China, is drawing elements from Chinese culture and history to seek relevance with and appeal to Chinese Gen Zs. We will also be sharing what aspiring Chinese brands did right to articulate their messages, especially in the space of the current ‘fragrance economy’, the boom of perfumery, in the China market. 

The event will consist of a 45-minute panel discussion and interactive Q/A, followed by a 45-minute networking session with drinks and nibbles provided. Come and join our China experts, meet people and share your ideas.
