University of the West of Scotland
The University of the West of Scotland (UWS) was founded in 1897. It is a young modern science and technology university and located in the Greater Glasgow region. There are four large comprehensive schools (School of Business and Creative Industries, School of Computer Engineering and Physical Science, School of Health and Life Sciences, School of Education and Social Sciences) and five campuses (four campuses in Scotland, one campus in London).
UWS has a global academic reputation. It is ranked as the top 3% university in the world by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. It is tied for 28th in the world in the Times Young University Rankings (Millennium University Series) in 2019. Ranked among the top 150 in the world's modern university rankings for higher education, and top 48 in the UK in the 2019 Times Higher Education World University Rankings. UWS ranks first in the UK in Education, third in Civil Engineering, first in Scotland, and the top 200 in Mathematics and Physics. UWS’s Business School has a long history and an international reputation in Management, Accounting and Finance. It was rated as Scotland's first school with a perfect score of five by RAE.
UWS is the only Overseas Training Cooperative Organisation by the State Administration of Foreign Expert Affairs, aiming to integrate Scotland's best resources and provide high-quality training and knowledge transfer services. Training areas involve regional development, environmental health, net zero and carbon reduction, vocational education, urban planning, big data and artificial intelligence, creative industry, elderly (dementia) care, midwifery, life science, food safety and quality supervision, Crisis management, international diplomacy, global tourism, public management and other fields.
